PCB Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Review

Review your PCB fabrication data before placing the build. Send GlobalWellPCB your Gerber or other CAM files, drill data and board requirements to identify fabrication questions and design changes that need approval before production.

  • Fabrication data
  • Stackup & drilling
  • Engineering feedback

Resolve fabrication questions while changes are still easier to make.

Service scope

Review your files against the intended PCB build

Manufacturability depends on the complete construction. The review considers your copper geometry, drill structure, materials and mechanical requirements together.

  • Copper geometry

Review trace and space relationships, copper-to-edge features and areas that need manufacturing clarification.

  • Holes and vias

Check drill definitions, plated and non-plated holes, annular rings and specified via treatments.

  • Stackup and materials

Review the layer build, thickness, copper requirements and impedance information supplied for the project.

  • Mask, profile and panel needs

Review solder mask openings, board outline, slots, scoring and any stated panel requirements.

Your deliverables

Files and feedback for your next step

Confirm the required formats and deliverables when we define your project scope.

  • Fabrication questions and findings

Identify the file locations and construction details that need a decision.

  • Recommended changes

Review practical geometry or specification changes for your team’s approval.

  • Confirmed build details

Record the stackup, material and process requirements agreed for the quotation or build.

  • Open-item list

Keep unresolved requirements visible before the files are released for production.

What to send

Start with the information you already have

Send the available files together and identify the revision. Tell us which details are still to be confirmed.

  • Fabrication package

Gerber, ODB++ or another agreed CAM format, drill files and the fabrication drawing.

  • Board specification

Layer count, thickness, copper weights, material, surface finish and solder mask requirements.

  • Special features

Impedance targets, via filling, slots, edge features, panel instructions and any customer standards.

Working together

From your enquiry to the next design step

  1. Submit one complete revision

Send the fabrication files and board specification together.

  2. Review the construction

Check the data against the proposed materials and manufacturing process.

  3. Resolve engineering questions

Approve or revise the design and build details.

  4. Confirm the production files

Align the final file revision with the agreed quotation or order requirements.

DFM on this service page covers bare-board fabrication. For component placement, soldering access and assembly data, request a DFA review as well.

Your questions

Before you send your files

Can you review Gerber files?

Yes. Include drill files and the board specification so the geometry can be assessed in the context of the complete construction.

Will you change my design automatically?

Requested changes should be reviewed and approved by your team. Send updated files with a clear revision when a change affects the design.

Do I need a final stackup first?

Send your proposed layer build and impedance requirements if available. Missing construction details can be raised during the review.

Does DFM include assembly review?

The scope here is PCB fabrication. BOM, placement, soldering and assembly access concerns belong in a separate DFA review.

Ready for a fabrication review?

Send your PCB files and construction requirements through the PCB manufacturing enquiry.
