Cable Assembly
Arrange cable assemblies with defined connectors, pin mapping, length and installation requirements. Send the cable drawing and BOM to review termination, strain relief, electrical checks and delivery.

Cable assemblies that connect correctly and fit your product
A finished cable is more than two matching connector housings. Wire or cable construction, pin orientation, length references and protection determine whether it can be installed and used as intended.
GlobalWellPCB reviews custom cable requirements alongside your PCB or product assembly. Provide a drawing that describes both electrical connections and the physical build so the quotation covers the delivered cable you need.
Use complete MPNs for housings, contacts and mating interfaces.
Define the reference face and cavity numbering.
Specify where measurement starts and ends.
Agree continuity and any further electrical or mechanical checks.
Choose the work your order needs
Power and equipment cables
Specify conductor, connector and termination requirements for the intended current and installation. Include retention and strain-relief details.
Signal and control cables
Define the connection map, shielding and routing requirements for control or signal interfaces. Any performance test needs its own limits and procedure.
Product-specific interconnects
Discuss cable assemblies delivered with boards, harnesses or an enclosure build. Provide installed views and identification for each connection.
How the project moves forward
- 01
Send the cable drawing and BOM
Include connector MPNs, wire data, pin map and quantity.
- 02
Review termination and fit
Resolve mating views, measurement datums, strain relief and labels.
- 03
Approve the sample specification
Confirm the released drawing and electrical acceptance procedure.
- 04
Assemble and verify
Build and check the cables before the agreed packaging and delivery.
What to send for a useful quotation
| File or requirement | Details to include |
|---|---|
| Connector BOM | Specify housing, contact and mating connector part numbers. |
| Cable material | Identify conductor, insulation, shielding and required construction. |
| Project quantity | State build quantity, variant identity and required timing. |
| Installed view | Describe routing, clearance and the interfaces at each end. |
| Cable construction drawing | Show connector views, pin mapping, measured length, wire or cable type and strain relief. |
| Cable acceptance instructions | Specify continuity, polarity, shielding, mechanical checks and any performance tests. |
Include the quantity, current revision and required delivery date. If a decision is still open, identify it in your message so the review can address it.
Know what will be checked and returned
| Review area | What it covers | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Connection identity | Check cavity and pin mapping to the drawing. | Use a defined connector view and netlist. |
| Physical construction | Review length, terminations, strain relief and marking. | Specify tolerances and inspection points. |
| Electrical requirements | Continuity checks confirm connections; other performance needs require separate tests. | Provide test conditions and pass/fail limits. |
State any unit or batch identification, packaging and inspection or test records you need with delivery. The quotation confirms the operations and evidence included.
What shapes your quotation
A useful quotation describes the complete deliverable and its supply responsibilities. Include these items in the review so you can compare like-for-like scope.
- Connector and cable MPNs, quantities and termination types.
- Length, shielding, protection, labels and assembly complexity.
- Fixtures, sample approval, electrical tests and packaging.
The delivery plan follows file readiness, approved materials and the requested operations. Share your target date and any items already available to help review the schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Is a sample enough to define a cable?
A sample can support the review, but an approved drawing and BOM should define connector identity, pin map and dimensions for repeat orders.
Which connector view should I use?
Show whether the drawing is the mating face or wire-entry face and include cavity numbering. This prevents an otherwise correct netlist being mirrored.
Can you include continuity testing?
Request it with the pin map, mating interface and acceptance instructions. Additional insulation, signal or load tests require separate conditions.
Can cables be supplied with box build?
Include them in the product BOM and installation drawings so manufacture, connection and final-unit checks are coordinated.
